Atmo’s Ultra-Precise AI Weather Forecasting Awarded TIME Best Invention of 2024

10/30/2024

Today, TIME magazine recognized our ultraprecise AI weather forecasting system as one of the Best Inventions of 2024. The recognition comes as extreme weather events are increasingly frequent and severe, making the need for precise weather prediction more urgent than ever. Atmo’s AI meteorology delivers forecasts that are up to 40,000 times faster, up to 50% more accurate, and up to 100 times more detailed than prior methods.

Atmo’s Impact Across the Pacific

Here's one reason we believe TIME took notice: Atmo’s AI meteorology systems are already rapidly beginning real-world deployments across the Pacific. In May 2024, we partnered with Tuvalu, an island nation at the frontline of rising sea levels, to strengthen their climate adaptation efforts. More recently, we launched Southeast Asia's first AI-driven national weather forecast in the Philippines, one of the world's most typhoon-exposed countries.

Atmo is on a mission to make ultra-precise weather forecasting universally accessible. While legacy systems provided broad regional forecasts, Atmo can now zoom into neighborhood-level detail. TIME’s recognition reinforces that as severe weather events become more frequent, communities need advanced warning systems. Atmo’s AI meteorology will help meet this need for communities on the front lines of climate change.
